Setup & hardware

Is GemcertX installed for my lab only?

Yes. Each lab gets its own installation on its own web address, with its own data, logo and branding.

Do I need special hardware?

No. GemcertX runs in a web browser on any computer, tablet or phone. A USB or Bluetooth barcode scanner and a label printer are optional.

Can it show certificates on my existing website?

Yes. The Website API lets your web developer display certificate details on your own site using a private key.

Certificates & verification

Can buyers check a certificate without an account?

Yes. Scanning the QR code, or entering the certificate number and weight on your Verify page, shows the certificate's details and photo. Customer names and prices are never shown.

What if a certificate turns out to be wrong?

A lab manager can withdraw it with a reason. Anyone who checks it then sees "Withdrawn — not valid", and it can no longer be printed. It can be reinstated later.

Why does manual verification ask for the weight?

So nobody can look up certificates just by guessing report numbers. The QR code carries a secure link, so scanning it needs nothing typed; checking by hand needs both the certificate number and the stone's weight.

Who can change an issued certificate?

Only a lab manager or the lab owner. Every change, print and transfer is kept in the change history.

Does the AI decide the identification?

No. The AI drafts photo descriptions and suggests likely identifications from the readings. The gemologist always makes the final call.

Messaging

Which SMS providers does it work with?

Dialog, Mobitel, Hutch, Airtel and Notify.lk, or any provider with an HTTP SMS API. WhatsApp Business messages are supported too, with SMS as a fallback.

Security & data

Is my data backed up?

Yes. The database is backed up every night and photos every week, and copies can be emailed off the server automatically.

Can staff sign in with Google?

Yes, if you switch it on — and only staff whose Google email you have already approved can get in.
